She has always supported the setting with her hard work, knowledge, and dedication and played a key role in receiving the Pre-School’s Outstanding Ofsted Recognition. Alex will be greatly missed by all and we wish her well in her next chapter.
Captain Sir Tom Moore – 30 April 1920 – 2 February 2021. In memory of a man who inspired us all. He raised over £33 million through his energy, enthusiasm and resilience.
We recognise that with children back in Pre-schools, bugs and illnesses may circulate, such as the common cold or smaller viral infections.
If your child has cold symptoms such as a runny nose or sore throat, but no fever, then treat it as such, but they should still attend Pre-school unless they are too poorly to do so.
If they are well enough to be at Pre-school, they should follow standard hygiene practice by washing their hands regularly and using tissues to catch coughs or sneezes, then disposing of them correctly.
When to get a test
The Pre-school should only tell you to get a COVID-19 test if your child has any of the following main symptoms:
- New continuous cough
- High fever or temperature
- Loss or change of taste or smell
COVID-19 tests are only for those people displaying one or more of the main symptoms.
How to get a test
If your child has any of these symptoms, then you should:
- get a test as soon as possible, to check if you have coronavirus
- follow the governement guidance to stay at home and do not have visitors until you get your test result (only leave your home to have a test); anyone you live with, and anyone in your support bubble, must also stay at home until you get your result
- tell the Pre-school
For most people, COVID-19 will be a mild illness, but it’s important to follow this guidance to help stop the spread.
Don’t call 111
Don’t call 111 if you need a test. Find out how to get a test.
111 should be used for those who need urgent medical advice. It cannot be used to arrange coronavirus testing.
Test availability is refreshed throughout the day, if tests are not available near you, please try again later.
Please also note, that face coverings are to be worn during drop off and collection please. This is due to the limited space in the Pre-school playground.
What will do
The health and wellbeing of children and staff is top priority for all and we will continue to observe and monitor all children on a daily basis and continue to provide very child with a mindfulness/Wellbeing session. Staff will endeavour to contact you if they have any concerns about your child’s wellbeing.
Re-furbish and update the children’s and the staff toilets – scheduled for Summer 2022, once separate funds have been secured.
The Pre-School will no longer be printing off letters for parents/carers to go into your child’s tray unless the need is there. We are trying to save on costs and the environment! Please KEEP checking your emails – thank you.
We would very appreciate your help and are looking for the following donations for the setting:
- Scrap white paper
- Scrap envelopes
- Boys and girls’ joggers/leggings
PLEASE can you make sure that your child’s lunch box is clearly named on the outside.
We have some children and staff at the setting with severe allergies and this could be potentially life-threatening to those individuals.
Please can you ensure that all items of clothing including your child’s coat, bag, and boots are clearly labelled as this will ensure less confusion at the end of the session. Please could you also provide your child with a change of shoes when attending a Forest School session. Thank you.
PLEASE DO NOT BRING SENTIMENTAL ITEMS TO THE SETTING. WE ARE A VERY BUSY SETTING AND DON’T ALWAYS HAVE THE TIME TO GO LOOKING FOR THESES ITEMS AT THE END OF THE SESSION.
It is VERY IMPORTANT that you let us know immediately of any changes to your address, telephone or mobile contact details please.
Absences Through Sickness or Holidays
If your child is ill or is not going to come into Ladybirds, please can you either ring the setting on 01525 406703 or send an email to email@example.com to let the team know – thank you.
March/April Birthdays 2021

Happy 3rd Birthday:
Freddie, Imogen, James, Rosie L, Elsie
Emma G, Emma C, Alex, Louise
School Places for September 2021
All parents will be advised of their child’s school place during April 2021. Please can you let your key person know which school your child will be
attending either through your child’s Tapestry account or by sending an email to the setting, so that we can start looking into the transition-to-school
process in order to help support your child.
Although we are always keen to support the fundraising activities of other very worthwhile charities, Ladybirds will be limiting the number of fundraising events that we will take part in. This is so that we can secure funds for the setting to be able to re-vamp the children’s toilets.
Invoices for 2nd Half-Term
The invoices for the 2nd half-term, Spring Term 2021 will be in your child’s tray when we come back from the February half-term break.
Sessions for September 2021
The Session Request Forms for our Returners are in the process of being / have been allocated. Parents, whose children are on our waiting list to start in September 2021, will be contacted shortly.
February Half-Term Holiday Club 2021
The February Holiday Club is restricted to children attending the setting, due to current circumstances. Each session is restricted to up to 15 children. There are still a few places left. The Valentine’s Party is now fully booked.
Easter Holiday Club 2021
The Easter Holiday Club is running from Monday 29.03.21 to Thursday 01.04.21. We are hoping to be able to open the Easter Holiday Club up again to all children aged 3 years to 7 years, not just the Ladybird ones. Any left-over funding for the Summer Term can be put towards the Easter AND Summer Holiday Clubs. The Easter Party is taking place on Thursday 01.04.21. Booking Forms will be emailed out shortly. Booking Forms for the both the Easter and Summer Holiday Clubs are also on our website.
Breakfast Club & After Pre-School Club
We will be reviewing the opening times for next halfterm during the February half-term week, and will let you know – via email – about any changes to our current opening times. We are hoping to return back
to ‘normal’ asap, especially once the schools are back. Thank you for your continued patience and co-operation.
As always – please feel free to contact me directly on any queries regarding sessions, Holiday Club, funding and/or fees at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We would like to thank you again for your cooperation and support in adhering to our Covid procedures this half term. It is very much appreciated. Our thanks also go to the Ladybird staff for working as they have done, under these difficult circumstances.
Finally, we would love to welcome more of you onto the Board. Our team of volunteers is an essential part of the organisation, for without a Board, Ladybird is not entitled to operate. In joining us on the Board, you’ll gain a greater understanding of how your child’s Pre-School is run, as well as gain skills and experience, and it can fit in around your other commitments. For more information, please do get in touch with us: email@example.com.
Best wishes to you all and your families.
Gemma, Simone and Victoria
I hope that you are all well and staying safe in these current times. We will be holding a small Easter event for children and parents, for both
those attending the setting and those at home. A letter will be sent out after half-term with dates and more information. In the meantime, I am looking for sweets and chocolate donations to fill the sweet/toy treat bags that we will be selling. Any donations for this would be greatly appreciated. Please can you send them into the setting a.s.a.p – many thanks. Now it’s the end of this half-term, enjoy some time at home with the family and look forward to seeing you all next half-term.
Thank you again for all your ongoing support. Take care.
