When are sessions run at Ladybird Forest  Pre-School?
We run morning and afternoon sessions on weekdays during term time. Morning sessions are 8.50am to 11.50am, and afternoon sessions are from 12.20pm to 3.20pm. We also run a Lunch club from 11.50am to 12.20pm which allows your child to attend all day. In addition, we are running a breakfast club which is running 7.45am to 8.50am and we now also run an  After Pre-School Club every day from 3.20pm to 6.00pm. We serve a hot tea at 4.30pm


What age can my child start at Ladybird Pre-School?
Children can attend Ladybird from the term after their 2nd birthday.


How much do sessions cost at Ladybird?
Nursery Education Grant funded places are available from the term after children reach their third birthday. For children who cannot claim funding the fee is currently £12.75 per 3 hour session. Lunch club is £3.00 per session. The After Pre-School Club fees vary, depending on how long your child is staying at the setting for, the hot tea is £1.00.

We are also registered for 2-year old funded  places. Parents will need to present Ladybird with a ‘Two Year Old Eligibility Letter’ issued by Central Bedfordshire Council to confirm their eligibilty for the 2-year old funding. How do I apply for a place for my child at Ladybird Forest Pre-School?
It is advisable to get your child's name on the waiting list. You are welcome to apply by e-mail giving your child's name, date of birth, your name, address and telephone number. Alternatively please contact the pre-school on 01525 406703. Our waiting list is in date of birth order, with priority given to funded 3 and 4 year olds followed by funded 2-year olds. Full details of our Admissions Policy can be found in the Parents Guide which is on the administration page.


How can I help my child settle into Ladybird Forest Pre-School?
Where possible all new children will be offered a home visit before they start at Ladybirds. This will give you and your child the opportunity to meet your child's Key Person and for them to get to know your child. You will also be offered a visit to the setting before your child starts. Should you feel you need to; you are welcome to stay for part of your child's first session.


Does my child have to be toilet trained to attend Ladybird Forest Pre-School?
At Ladybirds we welcome children who are in nappies or pull-ups and are undergoing potty training. If your child is wearing nappies/pull-ups please bring some in a bag along with some spare clothes. We are very happy to work alongside parents/carers who are potty training their children. If your child is used to using a potty, you are welcome to bring it in for him/her or use the pre-school. Our toilets are low-level child-sized ones, so children have no problems in using them with or without assistance. Please remember to dress your child in clothes that he/she is able to open easily when using the toilets.


Does my child have to wear a uniform?
Ladybird Forest Pre-School is pleased to be able to offer a uniform, but it is not a requirement that your child wears it. The uniform on offer consists of red T-shirts (£5.50 each), red sweatshirts (£8.50 each) and for the summer red legionnaire caps with detachable flaps (£4.50 each) printed with the Ladybird logo and the Pre-School name.
In addition, we are also offering red Ladybird book bags (£4.50 each) with the Ladybird logo. These book bags are designed to take home your child's artworks, any newsletters or correspondence from the pre-school without getting them damaged, creased or indeed wet.  We also offer boot bags for Forest School (£4.25 each), unfortuntley due to suffocation hazards children are not permmitted to store any items in plastic bags. If you would like to order the uniform please ask a member of staff or download an order form which is on the administration page. 

When can my child return to Ladybird Forest Pre-School after illness?
If your child has .......
Chickenpox: return to pre-school when the last blister has scabbed over.
Head Lice: return once the head and hair has been treated and cleared.
Diarrhoea: return 48 hours after the last loose stool.
Sickness: return 48 hours after the last vomit.

Conjuntivitis: Once treatment has started and the eyes are longer crusty/sticky
Please let us know if your child is suffering from any of the above as we like to inform parents where possible of ailments that are "going around".


What procedures does Ladybird Forest Pre-School follow if it snows?
During adverse weather conditions (eg snow) Ladybird Forest Pre-School follows the example of the local lower schools as to whether to stay open or to close. There are a number of ways to find out whether a school is open or closed. The school websites will have information on the situation, the local radio stations (Heart and BBC Three Counties) and the Central Bedfordshire Council website.

If the conditions worsen during the school day, facilitating a need to close Ladybird Forest Pre-School we will endeavour to contact you using the usual contact information. If you know that you are going to be unobtainable on these numbers, and weather conditions look unfavourable when you drop your child off, could you please provide us with an alternative contact name and/or number. We will remain open using a skeleton staff until all children are able to be collected. If we are unable to contact you, or the alternative contarct number,s and you have made no contact with the Pre-School, we will follow the policy guidlines for uncollected child procedures.

What is Stay and Play
This is an apportunity for you to see what your child does during a 'regular' session at Ladybirds.  If you are interested please speak to a member of Pre-School.
You can now 'Stay and Play' at Ladybird Forest School too! Please note that Forest School runs outdoors in all weathers, so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear when you come.
